As the global new energy vehicle market enters an explosive growth phase, a test technology competition concerning safety and reliability is quietly underway.
In the new energy laboratory of Shenzhen CPET Electronics Co., LTD., engineers are conducting the final verification of the latest generation of on-board chargers (OBC) test systems. This system can simulate the electrical environment changes of a vehicle after five years of driving within 48 hours and detect potential faults in advance.
The core of new energy vehicles is the "three-electricity" system - electronic control, battery and motor. Any oversight in the testing of any of these links may lead to serious consequences. The person in charge of CPET's New Energy Vehicle Division said.
In 2023, China's production and sales of new energy vehicles both exceeded 9 million units, ranking first in the world for nine consecutive years. Meanwhile, with the increase in the number of vehicles, quality problems of the three-electricity systems have gradually emerged. According to data from the State Administration for Market Regulation, the number of new energy vehicle recalls in 2022 increased by 31.6% year-on-year, among which defects in the three-electricity system accounted for 45%.
"The biggest pain point the industry is facing is how to improve testing efficiency while ensuring test coverage," a quality director of a new energy vehicle enterprise told the reporter. "Traditional testing methods often take several weeks and cannot meet the demand for rapid iteration."
Facing the pain points of the industry, CPET has taken the lead in launching a new generation of automated testing solutions for three-electricity systems:
Electronic control system test platform
OBC test system
Testing equipment for charging devices
"Through a parallel testing architecture, we have reduced the testing time by over 60%," said the R&D director of CPET. "At the same time, the testing cost has been lowered by 40%."
At present, CPET's testing solutions have been adopted by many leading enterprises, including BYD, Huawei and others. In the mass production test of a well-known brand of on-board chargers, the CPET equipment helped the customer keep the test defect rate within 50DPPM (50 parts per million), reaching the leading level in the industry.
"Choosing domestic testing equipment is not only due to cost considerations, but also for the needs of supply chain security and technical support," said a purchasing manager of a new energy vehicle enterprise. "The response speed and service capabilities of CPET far exceed those of foreign suppliers."
With the popularization of new technologies such as 800V high-voltage platforms and SiC power devices, CPET is actively laying out the next-generation test technologies
"We invest 30% of our annual sales in research and development," said the general manager of CPET. "Only by keeping up with the technological development trends can we create greater value for our customers."
Industry experts point out that testing equipment, as a key link in the new energy vehicle industry chain, is of great significance for ensuring product quality and safety. Specialized testing equipment suppliers like CPET are providing crucial support for the healthy development of the new energy vehicle industry through continuous technological innovation.
As the competition in the new energy vehicle market becomes increasingly fierce, product quality and reliability will become the key to success. CPET stated that it will continue to focus on the field of three-electricity testing, providing strong technical support for the high-quality development of the new energy vehicle industry.
In this race of new energy vehicles, testing equipment is becoming an indispensable "safety guard". Chinese testing equipment enterprises represented by CPET are promoting the steady and long-term development of China's new energy vehicle industry through independent innovation.
